## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AFTER A TWO HOUR AIR TOUR AND DURING A SLOW DECENT IN PREPARATION FOR LANDING AT KOA AIRPORT, THE A AIRCRAFT ENGINE STARTED LOSING POWER ALONG WITH MOMENTARY POWER SURGES. THE PILOT TURNED TO MAKE AN EMERGENCY LANDING AT AN OLD UNUSED AIRSTRIP AND NOTIFIED KOA TOWER OF HIS INTENTIONS. THE PILOT SHUT THE ENGINE DOWN TO STOP THE MOMENTARY POWER SURGES AND MADE A SUCCESSFULL LANDING AT THE OLD AIRSTRIP. THERE WAS NO DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT AND NO ONE WAS INJURED. AFTER LANDING COMPANY MAINTENANCE PERSONNEL FOUND NOTHING WRONG WITH THE ENGINE. THIER INVESTIGATION FOUND THE FUEL TANKS WERE EMPTY. FUEL WAS ADDED AND THE ENGINE RAN FINE. THE AIRCRAFT WAS FLOWN TO KOA AIRPORT THE NEXT MORNING WITH NO DIFFICULTIES.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
