THE PILOT WAS FLYING EASTBOUND WHEN HE LOST TRACK OF HIS POSITION IN THE FIELD DUE TO THE SUN IN HIS FACE AND STRUCK A POWER LINE. THE PILOT MADE A SUCCESSFUL EMERGENCY LANDING ON A NEARBY SMALL ROAD. NO INJURIES. DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT CONSISTED OF BOTH MAIN ROTOR PITCH CHANGE LINKS BEING BENT (ONE BROKEN) AND ONE ARM BROKEN ON THE S/PLATE. OBVIOULY, THE M/R P/C LINKS AND THE S/PLATE ARM BROKE AFTER HE LANDED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN10CA395](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN10CA395), Jul 10, 2010: Bell OH-58A (N415NS), Roswell, NM, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain clearance from transmission wires.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
