## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

DURING TAKEOFF ROLL ON RUNWAY 14 AT KBFM THE NOSE LANDING GEAR RETRACTED AND AIRCRAFT NOSE COWL, SPINNER, AND PROPELLER IMPACTED THE RUNWAY. PILOT STATED DURING PREFLIGHT HE MUST HAVE INADVERTENTLY SELECTED THE LANDING GEAR SWITCH TO THE GEAR UP POSITION THINKING HE SELECTED THE SPOILERS SWITCH TO THE RETRACTED POSITION. THE AIRCRAFT LANDING GEAR SWITCH AND SPOILERS SWITCH ARE IDENTICAL IN DESIGN AND WITHIN THREE (3) INCHES OF EACH OTHER.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
