## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR STATED THAT AFTER 2 TOUCH AND GOES AT THE PALMER AIRPORT THAT THE ENGINE QUIT ON CLIMB OUT AT APPROXIMATELY 500 FEET MSL. THERE WAS SOME CONFUSION ON WHICH TANK THE FUEL SELECTOR WAS POSITIONED TO AND HOW MUCH FUEL WAS ONBOARD THE AIRCRAFT. THE PILOT RECEIVING FLIGHT INSTRUCTION INDICATED THAT THE LEFT TANK SHOWED 1/4 AND THE RIGHT TANK SHOWED 3/8 ON THE FUEL GAUGES. THE AIRCRAFT LANDED HARD IN A HAYFIELD NEAR THE AIRPORT COLLAPSING THE MAIN LANDING GEAR AND DAMAGING THE PROPELLER WHEN IT CONTACTED THE GROUND.

Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
