## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON JULY 24, 2010 N579PN, A NADIG AVID FLYER (EXPERIMENTAL) CRASHED NEAR THE INTERSECTION OF THE CROSSWIND/DOWNWIND LEG AT VENANGO REGIONAL AIRPORT. THE TEMPERATURE WAS 80.6 DEGREES F AND THE DEW POINT WAS 73.4 DEGREES F. AN INVESTIGATION WAS PERFORMED WHEREAS FLIGHT CONTROL CONTINUITY WAS ESTABLISHED, A THUMB COMPRESSION TEST WAS PERFORMED AND A DETAILED INSPECTION OF THE WRECKAGE REVEALED NO ANOMALIES. WITNESS STATEMENTS GATHERED INDICATED PREVIOUS MECHANICAL ISSUES WITH THE ENGINE. MODIFICATIONS TO THE COOLING SYSTEM AND IGNITION SYSTEM MAY HAVE RESULTED IN THE ACCIDENT. ROTAX HAS AGREED UNDER NTSB JURISDICTION TO RUN AND TEST THE ENGINE. RESULTS ARE PENDING.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA10LA373](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA10LA373), Jul 24, 2010: Nadig Paul K Nadig (N579PN), Franklin, PA, substantial damage, 2 fatal. Probable cause: A partial loss of engine power due to the owner’s inadequate fuel system maintenance, which resulted in a collision with trees and subsequent impact with the ground.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
