## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE STUDENT PILOT WAS ON A FIRST SOLO AND HAD PERFORMED TWO SUCCESSFUL SOLO CIRCUITS. ON THE THIRD CIRCUIT, THE FLARE WAS INSUFFICIENT AND THE AIRCRAFT "BOUNCED". THE STUDENT PILOT KEPT THE ELEVATOR CONTROLS BACK WHILE THE AIRCRAFT WAS IN A NOSE HIGH ATTITUDE. THE AIRCRAFT STALLED AND IMPACTED THE GROUND IN A SLIGHT PITCH DOWN ATTITUDE. THE RATE OF DESCENT AT IMPACT CAUSED THE AIRCRAFT NOSE GEAR TO FAIL. NO MECHANICAL IRREGULARITIES WERE REPORTED JUST PRIOR TO OR DURING THE ACCIDENT FLIGHT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA10CA380](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA10CA380), Jul 27, 2010: Cessna 152 (N757ZN), Shirley, NY, substantial damage. Probable cause: The student pilot’s improper recovery from a bounced landing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
