## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT STATED THAT HE DEPARTED MSN THROUGH JUNEAU (UNU). HE PASSED UNU 15 MIN PRIOR TO IMPACT. HE CHECKED DUATS LAST NIGHT AND DID NOT FILE A FLIGHT PLAN. HE FOLLOWED HIS GPS DIRECT TO RIPON FROM JUNEAU AT 2500 FT AND STARTED TO SLOW AND DECEND. HE DID S TURNS AND PICKED UP TRACKS W OF RIPON. HE SAW A CESSNA DOWN THE TRACKS AND NO OTHER TRAFFIC SO HE FOLLOWED THE CESSNA AT 95-100 KTS. TWO MILES E OF RIPON HE HEARD A "THUNK" BUT HAD NO CLUE ABOUT ANOTHER AIRCRAFT. HE SAID THAT THERE WAS NO STRONG IMPACT, BUT HAD HEARD ANOTHER PILOT SAY THAT THEIR PLANE WAS HIT. ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ CALLED FISK AND TOLD THEM IT WAS HIM AND ASKED THEM TO LOOK AT HIS GEAR. THEY SAW NO DAMAGE AND HE WAS CLEARED TO RUNWAY 27 AT KOSH. THE OTHER AIRCRAFT, PIPER CUB N78659, WAS CLEARED TO LAND ON 9. ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ WAS TOLD TO LAND ON THE PINK DOT ON 27 AND THE LANDING FELT LIKE THE TIRE WAS GONE.

## Other aircraft in the event

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN10IA447](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN10IA447), Jul 27, 2010: Piper PA-32R-301 (N8159B), Ripon, WI, incident, minor damage. Probable cause: The inability of either pilot to see the other airplane due to the blind spot created by their respective airplane's wings.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
