## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PILOT OF N17MX, A MAULE AIRCRAFT WAS ENROUTE TO SPI WHEN THE WEATHER CONDITIONS DETEORIATED NEAR THE WEST CENTRAL TOWN OF PITTSFIELD, ILLINOIS. THE PRIVATE PILOT, WHO HELD NO INSTRUMENT RATING, ELECTED TO CONDUCT A PRECATIONARY OFF-FIELD LANDING IN VIEW OF THOSE WEATHER CONDITIONS. IN HIS ATTEMPT, THE PILOT TOUCHED DOWN ON A GRAVEL FARM ROAD BORDERED BY CORN FIELDS. DURING HIS ROLLOUT THE AIRCRAFT ENTERED A DITCH TO THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE AIRCRAFT WHICH CAUSED THE AIRCRAFT TO ENTER INTO THE MATURE CORN ROWS ADJACENT THE ROAD. THIS RESULTED IN SUBSTANTIAL DAMGE TO THE AIRCRAFT AND THE PILOT RECEIVED A MINOR INJURY.
