## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

WITNESSES STATED MR. TAYLOR WAS IN THE TRAFFIC PATTERN AT 400 FEET WITH A VERY NOSE HIGH ATTITUDE. THE LEFT WING DROPPED AND THE AIRCRAFT SPUN TO THE LEFT IMPACTING THE WATER NOSE FIRST. WITNESSES STATED THIS WAS MR. TAYLOR'S FIRST FLIGHT ALONE IN THIS AIRCRAFT. HE DID NOT HAVE A SEAPLANE RATING. A POST CRASH ENGINE RUN DEMONSTRATED THE ENGINE COULD DEVELOP ENOUGH POWER FOR FLIGHT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA10LA391](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA10LA391), Aug 2, 2010: Turck G L/Duflo J T SEA REY (N914SR), Winter Haven, FL, substantial damage, 1 fatal. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain adequate airspeed on approach for landing, resulting in an inadvertent stall/spin and collision with water.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
