## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT LEFT SEATTLE WITH 25 GALLONS FUEL, AND FLEW TO HILLSBORO ON RIGHT TANK UNTIL EMPTY. SWITCHED TO BOTH POSITION ON FUEL SELECTOR PASSING HIO AIRPORT, AND ENTERED LEFT DOWNWIND TO RWY 2 AT TWIN OAKS. MADE LEFT BASE TO FINAL APPROACH, AND SLIPPED AIRPLANE TO LAND RIGHT WING HIGH. 1/4 MILE FROM APPROACH END OF RWY 2 ENGINE QUIT AND PILOT MADE EMERGENCY LANDING ON FIELD SERVICE ROAD JUST SHORT OF RUNWAY. AIRCRAFT DAMAGE SUBSTANTIAL. FOUND 12 GALLONS FUEL ON BOARD AFTER ACCIDENT AND FUEL SYSTEM INTACT. ENGINE LOSS OF POWER DURING SLIP TO LAND ASSUMED TO BE DUE TO EMPTY FUEL IN RIGHT WING AND LESS THAN 1/2 IN LEFT WING CAUSING AIR TO ENTER FUEL LINES TO CARBURETOR.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR10CA401](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR10CA401), Aug 13, 2010: Cessna 180D (N6475X), Hillsboro, OR, substantial damage. Probable cause: A loss of engine power due to fuel starvation resulting from unporting when the pilot entered into a slip during the turn to the final approach leg.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
