## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

WHILE ON APPROACH TO RUNWAY 18 AT JABARA AIRPORT (AAO), THE PILOT LANDED HARD BETWEEN THE RUNWAY NUMBERS AND THE 500 FOOT MARKINGS. THE PILOT STATED THAT PRIOR TO LANDING, THE APPROACH WAS ESSENTIALLY STABLE WITH A SLIGHTLY HIGHER THAN NORMAL PATH ANGLE. THE AIRSPEED OVER THE THRESHOLD WAS APPROXIMATELY 60 TO 65 KNOTS AND NO INDICTATIONS OF MECHANICAL FAILURE. THE PILOT STATED THAT JUST PRIOR TO LANDING, A SLIGHT GUST OR TURBULENCE WAS ENCOUNTERED. THE PILOT RESPONDED TO THE GUST, AND SHORTLY THEREAFTER, THE PLANE STALLED AND NOSED OVER ONTO THE RUNWAY. THE AIRCRAFT WAS SUBSTANTIALLY DAMAGED, TO INCLUDE BROKEN LEFT MAIN AND NOSE LANDING GEAR. THE FLAPS AND FUSELAGE SHOWED SIGNS OF INTERNAL STRUCTURAL DAMAGE. THE PILOT WAS NOT INJURED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN10CA479](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN10CA479), Aug 14, 2010: Beech A23-19 (N6919Q), Wichita, KS, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s loss of airplane control while landing with a gusting wind.

## Other reports on N6919Q (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Accident 19791117032819A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19791117032819A), Nov 17, 1979: Beech 23BEECH (N6919Q), Latrobe, PA, Substantial damage. Aircraft stalled during level off over runway threshold. Severed right landing gear. No night experience.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
