## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE AIRCRAFT WAS BEING OPERATED ON A VFR REPOSITIONING FLIGHT FROM REEDSBURG, WI (C35) TO BARABOO, WI (DLL) AFTER THE LEFT ENGINE CYLINDER HEAD TEMPERATURE GAUGE PROBES HAD BEEN REPLACED IN C35. APPROACHING DLL, THE PILOT STATED THAT HE NOTICED SIGNIFICANT DIFFERENCES IN THE READINGS BETWEEN THE LEFT AND RIGHT ENGINE EGT/CHT GAUGES. WHILE PREPARING TO LAND, THE PILOT MOVED HIS SEAT AFT TO GET A BETTER VIEW OF THE GAUGES, WHICH ARE LOCATED ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. WHILE RECORDING THE THE GAUGE READINGS ON A PIECE OF PAPER, THE AIRSPEED DECREASED, THE SINK RATE INCREASED, AND THE AIRCRAFT IMPACTED TREES. THE AIRCRAFT THEN CRASH LANDED IN A CORN FIELD AND CAME TO A STOP APPROXIMATELY 1/2 MILE NORTH OF THE APPROACH END OF RUNWAY 19.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN10LA529](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN10LA529), Aug 18, 2010: Piper Aerostar 601P (N601PP), Baraboo, WI, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's diverted attention during an approach for landing that resulted in an altitude loss and impact with terrain.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
