## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AN EYEWITNESS INFORMED THE INVESTIGATORS THAT AROUND 7:00 P.M. ON SATURDAY AUGUST 21, 2010, SHE WITNESSED A TWO SEATER ULTRA LIGHT FLY OVER HER HOUSE VERY LOW. THE ENGINE MADE SOUNDS SIMILAR TO IT CUTTING OFF THEN STARTING UP AGAIN. BY THIS TIME THE AIRCRAFT WAS IN A TIGHT SPIRAL AND TO CLOSE TO THE GROUND TO PULL UP. AIRCRAFT DOVE STRAIGHT INTO THE GROUND AND EXPLODED AT ONCE. FOLLOWED BY TWO OR THREE SMALLER EXPLOSIONS.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA10FA435](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA10FA435), Aug 21, 2010: North Wing Scout X-C (N417JN), Amherst, VA, substantial damage, 2 fatal. Probable cause: The pilot's loss of aircraft control for an undetermined reason.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
