## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

WHILE ASSEMBLING GLIDER FOR FLIGHT, THE PILOT FAILED TO ENSURE THAT LOCKING PIN ON THE RIGHT RUDDERVATOR WAS PROPERLY LOCKED IN POSITION. DURING THE TAKEOFF ROLL, RIGHT RUDDERVATOR CAME UNLOCKED RESULTING IN PILOT UNABLE TO CONTROL GLIDER. PILOT RELEASED TOW LINE AND GLIDER IMPACTED THE GROUND.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA10CA477](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA10CA477), Aug 27, 2010: Beam-Walter RS-15 (N29WB), Windsor, VA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's inadequate installation and preflight inspection of the right rudervator assembly, which resulted in a loss control during takeoff.

## Other reports on N29WB (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Accident 19800601016709A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19800601016709A), Jun 1, 1980: Amtr RS15 (N29WB), Frederick, MD, Substantial damage. Pilot used high drag flaps & did not maintain air-speed in attempted short field landing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
