## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT REQUESTED FULL LOAD OF FUEL AT FBO. FBO DELIVERED 55.6 GALLONS OF FUEL TO AIRPLANE AND TOLD PILOT THAT THE AIRCRAFT HAD BEEN TOPPED OFF. THE PILOT DID NOT PHYSICALLY VERIFY HIS FUEL LOAD BEFORE DEPARTING ON A 3 PLUS HOUR CROSS COUNTRY FLIGHT. ACTUAL FUEL LOAD WAS APPARENTLY LESS THAN THE PILOT HAD CALCULATED, AS NOTED BY THE EXHAUSTION OF FUEL 1/2 MILE SHORT OF HIS INTENDED DESTINATION, RESULTING IN A CRASH LANDING. DUE TO THE PILOTS FAILURE TO PHYSICALLY VERIFIY HIS FUEL LOAD, HE DID NOT HAVE ENOUGH FUEL TO COMPLETE HIS FLIGHT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN10LA512](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN10LA512), Aug 31, 2010: Cessna 210 (N210PR), Houma, LA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s improper fuel management, which resulted in a loss of engine power due to fuel exhaustion.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
