## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE BANNER TOWING AIRCRAFT IMPACTED THE GROUND IN A NEAR VERTICAL, LEFT WING LOW FLIGHT ATTITUDE AND CAME TO REST ON ITS BELLY FACING THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION OF TRAVEL, APPROXIMATELY 2 SM NORTHEAST OF BOONE MUNICIPAL AIRPORT (KBNW), BOONE, IA . THE BANNER WAS FOUND APPROXIMATELY 900' NORTH OF THE FUSELAGE. FURTHER INSPECTION OF THE AIRCRAFT AND ENGINE REVEALED NO ANOMALIES. ACCORDING TO AN EYE WITNESS,THE BANNER BEHIND THE PLANE WAS SPINNING LIKE A KITE OUT OF CONTROL, THEN GOT CAUGHT IN THE CORN. THE PLANE DROPPED THE BANNER THEN GAINED A LITTLE ALTITUDE AND THEN WENT STRAIGHT DOWN.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN10LA514](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN10LA514), Sep 2, 2010: Cessna 150L (N10128), Boone, IA, substantial damage, 1 fatal. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to maintain airplane control while performing low-level banner towing operations with a gusting wind.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
