## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THIS WAS THE SECOND FLIGHT OF THE DAY FOR THE AIRCRAFT. THE FIRST WAS CONDUCTED BY THE PASSENGER WITH ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ IN THE RIGHT SEAT. AFTER REFUELING THE SECOND FLIGHT WAS CONDUCTED WITH ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ IN THE LEFT SEAT AND THE PILOT OF THE FIRST FLIGHT IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. THE FIRST APPROACH TO LANDING WAS DISCONTINUED AND A GO AROUND WAS PERFORMED. ON THE SECOND LANDING ATTEMPT THE AIRCRAFT BOUNCED AND AN ATTEMPT TO SALVAGE THE LANDING WAS MADE BY MOVING THE STICK FORWARD. THIS CAUSED THE NOSE WHEEL TO IMPACT THE RUNWAY CAUSING THE AIRCRAFT TO BOUNCE A SECOND TIME. WHEN THE NOSE GEAR MADE CONTACT WITH THE RUNWAY THE THIRD TIME IT COLLAPSED CAUSING THE PROPELLER TO STRIKE THE RUNWAY AND DISINTEGRATE. THE AIRCRAFT SLID TOWARD THE LEFT EDGE OF THE RUNWAY. AS IT EXITED INTO THE DIRT THE NOSE DUG IN AND THE AIRCRAFT OVERTURNED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR10LA445](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR10LA445), Sep 2, 2010: Morehead KR-2 (N522PC), Rancho Murieta, CA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s improper flare and recovery from a bounced landing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
