## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

WHILE LANDING AT THE CRAIGMONT IDAHO AIRPORT WITH A CROSSWND THE PILOT DID A NORMAL LANDING AND WHEN HE PUT THE TAIL WHEEL DOWN THE TAIL WHEEL STATRED TO SHIMMY. THIS CAUSED HIM TO RUN OFF THE RUNWAY. WHEN HE GOT TO THE GRASS ALONG SIDE THE RUNWAY HE GROUNDLOOPED THE AIRCRAFT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR10LA472](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR10LA472), Sep 3, 2010: Cessna T188C (N9980J), Craigmont, ID, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain directional control during the landing roll.

## Other reports on N9980J (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Accident 19960530012159A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19960530012159A), May 30, 1996: Cessna T188C (N9980J), Hooper, UT, Substantial damage. Lost power on spray turn around. Went through a fence landing. Ran normal in test cell. Prior broken crankshaft.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
