## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ROTORCRAFT DEPARTED SALINAS AIRPORT WITH A SPECIAL VFR CLEARANCE THAT REPORTED THE WEATHER AS 2-3 MILE VISIBILITY WITH A 100 FOOT CEILING. WHILE ENROUTE AT APPROXIMATELY 50 FEET, ROTORCRAFT RAN INTO FOG. PILOT ATTEMPTED TO RETURN TO THE AIRPORT BUT LOST CONTROL AND MADE A HARD LANDING ON HIGHWAY 101 THAT RESULTED IN SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR10LA446](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR10LA446), Sep 3, 2010: Bell 47G (N4427F), Salinas, CA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's visual flight rules flight into instrument meteorological conditions, which resulted in his spatial disorientation and loss of helicopter control.

## Other reports on N4427F (1)
