## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT WAS LANDING A MOTORIZED HAND-GLIDER ON A LANDING STRIP ON PRIVATE PROPERTY. PILOT LOST CONTROL DURING THE LANDING ROLL AND FLIPPED THE AIRCRAFT AFTER HITTING A DITCH. AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE, PILOT AND PASSENGER RECEIVED MINOR INJURIES. BELOW IS A COPY OF MR. LIVERMAN'S STATEMENT: PER YOUR REQUEST, BELOW IS MY STATEMENT REGARDING MY ACCIDENT: ON 8/6/10 AFTER TAKING ABOUT A 30 MINUTE FLIGHT IN MY NORTHWING APACHE SCOUT X2, I WAS ON FINAL DESCENT TO LAND AT THE SOUTH OAKES (NC47) FIELD. MY APPROACH WAS NORMAL AND STRAIGHT DOWN THE RUNWAY WITH A LIGHT HEAD WIND. AS I ROUNDED OUT SOMEWHERE BETWEEN THE 10 TO 5 FOOT AGL, AN UNEXPECTED GUST OR GROUND TURBULENCE THROWED ME SHARP RIGHT OFF THE RUNWAY. AT MY SLOW LANDING SPEED, I WAS UNABLE TO STRAIGHTEN THE POSITION OF MY TRIKE AND IMPACTED THE GROUND. THE IMPACT CAUSED SEVERE DAMAGE TO THE LEFT REAR LANDING GEAR WHICH CAUSED MY TRIKE TO ROLL ON ITS LEFT SIDE. BECAUSE OF THE STRENGTH AND INTEGRITY OF THE TRIKE, MYSELF AND A PASSENGER SUSTAINED MINOR NON-LIFE THREATENING INJURIES. END OF STATEMENT. THANKS.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA10CA470](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA10CA470), Sep 6, 2010: North Wing Uum Sport X2 (N374WZ), Winterville, NC, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's loss of directional control while landing during an encounter with a wind gust.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
