## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT WAS PRACTICING HOLDS AT 4000 FT. OVER THE GRR VOR WHEN HE HEARD A LOUD BANG FROM THE ENGINE AREA. HE THEN NOTICED RPM INDICATION HAD GONE TO ZERO. HE INFORMED GRR TOWER OF ENGINE FAILURE AND LANDED IN A FIELD 5 MILES SOUTH OF THE AIRPORT. THE NOSE GEAR FORK AND WHEEL ASSEMBLY BROKE OFF, AND RIGHT MAIN GEAR AXLE FAILED DURING THE IMPACT IN THE SOFT FIELD. THE LEFT WING TIP TANK WAS ALSO DAMAGED DURING THE LANDING SEQUENCE AND A POST CRASH FIRE DESTROYED THE OUTBOARD WING SECTION.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN10FA521](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN10FA521), Sep 6, 2010: Cessna P210N (N4632A), Caledonia, MI, substantial damage. Probable cause: A loss of engine power as a result of a fatigue failure of the crankshaft due to the loss of engine case through-bolt torque. Contributing to the accident was a mechanic's use of incorrect hardware.

## Other reports on N4632A (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Incident 19860508074219I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19860508074219I), May 8, 1986: Cessna T210N (N4632A), Youngstown, OH. Fuel was exhausted but safe landing on destination airport was made.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
