## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AT A LOCATION APPROXIMATELY 26 MILE NORTHEAST OF GALBRAITH LAKE, AK , MR. MRZENA ATTEMPTED TAKE-OFF FROM THE TUNDRA UTILIZING AN ESTIMATED 1000 FT AREA MEASURED WITH A RANGE FINDER AND PACED OUT. THERE WAS A 2 1/2 TO 3 FT. DITCH AT THE FAR END OF THE TAKE-OFF AREA. THE TUNDRA HAD NO SLOPE AND WAS SOFT MOSS AND LICHEN ON TOP WITH FIRM EARTH UNDERNEATH. FEILD ELEVATION WAS ESTIMATED AT 2000FT. HE INITIALLY USED 20 DEGREES OF FLAPS, HE ELECTED TO TAKE-OFF INTO A SLIGHT WIND OUT OF THE EAST, ESTIMATED AT LESS THAN 10 KNOTS. HE STATES THAT THE AIRCRAFT STOPPED ACCELERATING AT ABOUT 45 MPH INDICATED. HE THEN PUT IN 30 DEGREES OF FLAPS . THE AIRCRAFT WHEELS STRUCK THE DITCH AT THE FAR END OF THE TAKE-OFF AREA, WHICH COLLAPSED THE GEAR AND THE AIRCRAFT SLID ON ITS BELLY UNDER FULL POWER. PTRS #AL01201002466

## Other aircraft in the event

- Unidentified aircraft: no report for this aircraft in the release

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ANC10CA085](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ANC10CA085), Sep 11, 2010: Piper PA-22-150 (N3644P), Coldfoot, AK, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's selection of an unsuitable (short) off-airport site for takeoff.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
