## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILT TOOK OFF FROM A DIRT AIRSTRIP NEAR ROBERTS IDAHO. WHEN HE WAS APPROXIMATELY 500 -600' AGL, THE ENGINE STARTED RUNNING ROUGH. HE MADE A RADIO CALL TO INFORM THE OTHER AIRCRAFT AT THE AIRSTRIP THAT HE WAS RETURNING TO THE STRIP. ON THE BASE LEG THE ENGINE QUIT. HE MADE A FORCED LANDING IN A FIELD. ON LANDING, THE RIGHT GEAR TOUCHED FIRST RESULTING IN DAMAGE TO THE RIGHT GEAR, WING AND THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ENGINE FIREWALL. POST ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION REVEALED THAT THE LEFT SIDE CARBURETOR WAS NOT CONNECTED IN ITS RUBBER MOUNT. UNSURE IF THIS OCCURRED PRIOR TO THE ENGINE ISSUES OR WAS A RESULT OF THE HARD LANDING.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR10LA483](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR10LA483), Sep 18, 2010: Boam Rans S-6S (N4427M), Roberts, ID, substantial damage. Probable cause: A loss of engine power due to the detachment of the left carburetor from the engine inlet manifold. Contributing to the accident was the pilot's failure to address a known engine vibration.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
