## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT ATTEMPTED A THREE-POINT TAKEOFF IN A TAILWHEEL AIRPLANE ON A GRASS RUNWAY (APPROXIMATELY 2 INCHES THICK). THE RUNWAY LENGTH WAS APPROXIMATELY 2,600 FEET LONG WITH OBSTACLES. THE DENSITY ALTITUDE WAS APPROXIMATELY 1,700 FEET. PILOT HELD THE AIRPLANE TAIL ON THE GROUND DURING TAKEOFF ROLL WHICH RESULTED IN MORE DRAG AND INCREASED THE REQUIRED RUNWAY DISTANCE. UPON LIFTOFF, THE PILOT DID NOT RETRACT THE LANDING GEAR WHICH RESULTED IN MORE DRAG. PILOT CLIMBED IN AN EXTREME NOSE-UP PITCH ATTITUDE WHICH RESULTED IN A STALL AND THE AIRPLANE CRASHED IN AN INVERTED POSITION WITH VERY LITTLE FORWARD SPEED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA10LA483](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA10LA483), Sep 18, 2010: Globe GC-1B (N3348K), Clyo, GA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain a proper aircraft pitch attitude during the takeoff roll, which allowed the tailwheel to contact the grass runway and increase drag on the airplane.

## Other reports on N3348K (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Incident 20020317016069I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/20020317016069I), Mar 17, 2002: Swftms GC1B (N3348K), Savannah, GA, Minor damage. (-23) Left main gear collapsed after landing. Pilot had reported no left rudder control. Aircraft skidded off runway to right prior to gear collapse.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
