As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT ELECTED TO ABORT THE TAKEOFF ON A WET GRASS STRIP. AFTER THE ABORT WAS ATTEMPTED, ELECTED TO ADD FULL POWER TO ATTEMPT TO CLEAR OBSTACLES, CLIPPED A SMALL TREE, GRAZED A LARGE BOULDER AND CAME TO REST IN A SMALL POND NOSE DOWN.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA10CA497](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA10CA497), Sep 22, 2010: Consolidated Aeronautics Lake LA-4-200 (N8001J), New Castle, VA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's delayed decision to abort the takeoff, which resulted in a collision with terrain.

## Other reports on N8001J (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Incident 19791213047069I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19791213047069I), Dec 13, 1979: Conaer LA4A (N8001J), Tomball, TX, Minor damage. Pilot failed to extend gear for landing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
