## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^FUELED THE AIRCRAFT AND DEPARTED ON A PERSONAL/PLEASURE FLIGHT IN THE LOCAL AREA. APPROXIMATELY 30 MINUTES INTO THE FLIGHT THE PILOT STARTED PRACTICING MANEUVERS. DURING A STEEP TURN THE ENGINE SPUTTERED BRIEFLY. NEXT THE PILOT PRACTICED AN ACCELERATED STALL DURING WHICH THE ENGINE QUIT. A RESTART WAS ATTEMPTED BUT WAS UNSUCESSFUL. AN ATTEMPT TO RETURN TO THE AIRPORT (5NM AWAY) WAS MADE, BUT THE PILOT DECIDED THAT THE AIRPORT WAS BEYOND THE GLIDE DISTANCE OF THE AIRCRAFT AND DECIDED TO LAND IN A SOY BEAN FIELD. THE LANDING IN THE FIELD RESULTED IN THE AIRCRAFT FLIPPING OVER.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)
