## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON OCTOBER 01, 2010, AT 1240 EASTERN DAYLIGHT TIME, A GLASAIR SH-2, N2117S, REGISTERED TO COBA, INC., COLLIDED WITH THE EARTH SHORTLY AFTER TAKEOFF ROTATION AT THE SEVEN LAKES AIRPORT IN JACKSON, GA. VISUAL METEOROLOGICAL CONDITIONS (VMC) PREVAILED AT THE TIME, THE GRASS RUNWAY WAS DRY, AND THE INTENDED DESTINATION OF THE AIRCRAFT WAS TIFTON, GA (TMA). AN EYEWITNESS REPORTED HE SAW THE AIRCRAFT OVER THE RUNWAY IN AN APPROXIMATE EIGHTY (80) DEGREE RIGHT BANK, THAT IT APPEARED TO TRY TO ROLL OUT OF THE BANK BUT THEN ROLLED INTO AN APPROXIMATE NINETY (90) DEGREE RIGHT BANK JUST PRIOR TO THE RIGHT WING TIP CONTACTING THE GROUND CAUSING THE AIRCRAFT TO CARTWHEEL. ON-SCENE INVESTIGATION FOUND THE AIRCRAFT LYING INVERTED ON THE SOUTH SIDE OF A PRIVATELY OWNED HANGAR. THE RUDDER WAS BROKEN OFF, RIGHT FLAP TORN LOOSE FROM THE WING, RIGHT ELEVATOR TIP BROKEN OFF, LEFT WING OUTBOARD LEADING EDGE TORN OPEN AND THE ENGINE HAD BROKEN LOOSE FROM THE FIREWALL AND BEEN SLUNG THROUGH THE HANGAR WALL. A DISTANCE OF APPROXIMATELY NINETY (90) FEET WAS MEASURED FROM THE FIRST GROUND CONTACT MARKS TO WHERE THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO REST. A DISTANCE OF APPROXIMATELY ONE HUNDRED FIFTY (150) FEET WAS MEASURED FROM THE CENTER OF THE GRASS STRIP TO WHERE THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO REST. CONTINUITY OF FLIGHT CONTROLS WAS ESTABLISHED DURING POST ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION OF WRECKAGE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA11LA003](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA11LA003), Oct 1, 2010: Yost Edwin S Glasair SH-2 (N2117S), Jackson, GA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's loss of aircraft control for undetermined reasons.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
