## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT WAS BACK TAXIING FOR DEPARTURE ON RUNWAY O1 AT 51J, LAKE CITY, SC. HE STATED HE WAS DISTRACTED AND LET THE AIRCRAFT GAIN SPEED. HE STATED HE COULD NOT SEE DIRECTLY OVER THE NOSE OF THE AIRCRAFT DUE TO ITS CONVENTIONAL GEAR DESIGN. THEN, WHEN HE REALIZED HE WAS CLOSE TO THE RUNWAY END HE APPLIED THE BRAKES TO AVOID RUNNING OFF THE RUNWAY. THE AIRCRAFT FLIPPED ALONG THE LONGITUDNAL AXIS AND CAME TO REST UPSIDE DOWN AND FACEING THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION THAT IT WAS DURING THE TAXI.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA11CA002](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA11CA002), Oct 1, 2010: Fleet 16B (N8742), Lake City, SC, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s improper use of the brakes while taxiing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
