## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

US AIRWAYS FLIGHT 5, PHX TO ORD, SENT ACARS MESSAGE AT 2050Z THAT THE YELLOW "HYDRAULIC RESERVOIR LOW LEVEL WARNING" CAME ON. THE CREW FOLLOWED THE ECAM PROCEDURES AND TURNED OFF THE YELLOW ENGINE 2 HYDRAULIC PUMP. YELLOW SYSTEM THEN SHOWED ZERO LEVEL. AT 2057Z, THE CREW REPORTED THAT THEY LOST ALL THE YELLOW SYSTEM HYDRAULIC FLUID. THEY HAD PRESSURE TO BOTH SYSTEMS THRU THE HYDRAULIC PTU AND WERE CONTINUING ON TO ORD. AT 2145Z , 50 MILES NE OF MCI, THE GREEN SYSTEM OVERHEATED AND THEY DECLARED AN EMERGENCY, DIVERTING TO MCI. FLIGHT 5 LANDED AT MCI WITHOUT INCIDENT. THE AIRCRAFT DID NOT HAVE NOSE-WHEEL STEERING AND WAS TOWED TO THE GATE.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
