## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE AIRCRAFT ENGINE POWER WENT TO IDLE UNCOMMANDED. NO ENGINE ROUGHNESS WAS NOTED PRIOR TO POWER GOING TO IDLE. THE PILOT ATTEMPTED BUT WAS UNABLE TO LAND AT THE NEAREST AIRPORT. THE AIRCRAFT IMPACTED THE GROUND IN A FIELD APPROXAMATELY 1 MILE SOUTHWEST OF THE AIRPORT. AN INTERVIEW WITH THE PILOT INDICATES THAT HE TOOK OFF WITH APPROXIMATELY 20-22 GALLONS OF FUEL ONBOARD AND A DEPUTY SHERIFF REPORT INDICATES THAT FUEL WAS LEAKING AT THE SCENE. EXAMINATION OF THE SCENE ALSO INDICATED THAT A SMALL AMOUNT OF FUEL REMAINED IN EACH TANK.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN11CA017](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN11CA017), Oct 11, 2010: Luscombe 8D (N72060), Clarrisa, MN, substantial damage. Probable cause: The partial loss of engine power for undetermined reasons.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
