## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON FRIDAY 15 OCT 2010, N4105T, AN EXPERIMENTAL AMATEUR-BUILT COMP AIR CA-10 SINGLE-ENGINE LAND AIRPLANE, EXPERIENCED NOSE LANDING GEAR FAILURE DURING AN ABORTED TAKEOFF AND RESULTANT HARD LANDING ON RUNWAY 27 AT LAKELAND-LINDER REGIONAL AIRPORT, FL. PILOT'S FIRST FLIGHT IN THIS HULL. AIRCRAFT HAD JUST UNDERGONE A MAJOR AVIONICS UPGRADE AND WAS BEING RETURNED TO SERVICE. VMC PREVAILED. THERE WERE NO INJURIES TO PILOT OR PASSENGER AND THE AIRCRAFT INCURRED MINOR DAMAGE. PILOT STATED STICK FORCE REQUIRED AT ROTATION WAS "FIRM", AND MADE DECISION TO ABORT. BEFORE ABORT COULD BE INITIATED ON DECK, AIRCRAFT BECAME AIRBORNE. PILOT RETARDED POWER AND AIRCRAFT STRUCK RUNWAY ON ITS NOSE WHEEL AND BOUNCED AIRBORNE AGAIN. PILOT STATED HE RESTORED POWER TO TRY TO REGAIN CONTROL, AND ON SECOND SETTLE HE STATES HE RETARDED POWER MORE SLOWLY. AS NOSEWHEEL SETTLED, IT COLLAPSED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
