## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON OCTOBER 27, 2010, AT 18:00 ATLANTIC STANDARD TIME, A CALL WAS RECEIVED FROM THE FEDERAL AVIATION ADMINISTRATION REGIONAL OPERATIONS CENTER (FAA ROC) INDICATING THAT AIRCRAFT REGISTRATION NUMBER N350RL, A PIPER PA-31-350 MODEL, CRASHED INTO THE WATER, TWO MILES WEST FROM RAFAEL HERNANDEZ AIRPORT (TJBQ).

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA11LA037](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA11LA037), Oct 27, 2010: Piper PA-31-350 (N350RL), Aguadilla, PR, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's improper decision to ditch the airplane after a reported partial loss of engine power and overheat on one engine for undetermined reasons.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
