## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON CLIMBOUT AFTER TAKEOFF THE AIRCRAFT LOST POWER. THE ENGINE RPM DROPPED TO 1200. THE PILOT ATTEMPTED TO CIRCLE AND LAND ON THE RUNWAY, BUT A TAILWIND FORCED HIM TO OVERFLY THE RUNWAY AND HE LANDED IN A FIELD JUST NORTH OF THE RUNWAY.INVESTIGATION REVEALED THE THROTTLE CONTROL CABLE BECAME DISCONNECTED FROM THE CARBURETOR. THE CONNECTING HARDWARE COULD NOT BE FOUND. IT IS UNKNOWN IF THE HARDWARE MALFUNCTIONED OR INSTALLED IMPROPERLY.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN11CA062](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN11CA062), Nov 9, 2010: Cessna 172 (N9747L), Pineville, LA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot/mechanic’s improper inspection of the airplane following the engine installation.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
