## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON NOVEMBER 10, 2010, AT APPROXIMATELY 13:53 CST, A SWEARINGEN (SX-300) (AMATEUR BUILT) CRASHED IN AN OPEN FIELD APPROXIMATELY 4 MILES SW OF THE MILFORD, IOWA AIRPORT. THE AIRCRAFT HAD DEPARTED AIRLAKE AIRPORT, MN (LVN) ENROUTE TO TEXAS. THE AIRCRAFT WAS COMPLETELY DESTROYED UPON IMPACT. IT APPEARS THAT THE RT WING, RT FLAP, AND RT HORIZONTAL STABILIZER, ALONG WITH SEVERAL OTHER PIECES, HAD DEPARTED THE AIRCRAFT PRIOR TO IMPACT. THE INSTRUMENTS WERE COMPLETELY DESTROYED DUE TO IMPACT, AND THE ENGINE AND PROPELLER WERE BURIED APPROXIMATELY FOUR FEET IN THE GROUND. ONE WITNESS STATED THAT HE HEARD THE AIRCRAFT, BUT COULD NOT SEE IT; HE SAID HE HEARD THE ENGINE REV-UP, THEN HE HEARD A BIG BOOM AND THEN ALL WAS QUIET. THE PILOT WAS THE ONLY OCCUPANT ON BOARD, AND HE WAS FATALLY INJURED IN THE MISHAP.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
