## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

WHILE ENROUTE TO WILEY POST AIRPORT (KPWA), PILOT STATED TO FORT WORTH CENTER THAT HE WAS HAVING LANDING GEAR EXTENSION PROBLEMS. FORT WORTH CENTER INSTRUCTED PILOT TO CLIMB AND MAINTAIN 3000' ALTITUDE. SHORTLY AFTER CLIMBING TO 3000' THE AIRCRAFT CLIMBED TO 3300' AND ABRUPTLY DECENDED VERTICALY INTO THE GROUND. WHILE THE AIRCRAFT WAS TOTALLY DESTROYED AND THE WRECKAGE WAS LARGELY CONSUMED BY POST CRASH FIRE, CONTINUITY OF MAJOR CONTROL SURFACES WAS OBSERVED, AND LANDING GEAR CONTROL BOX INDICATED THAT THE LANDING GEAR WAS IN THE RETRACT POSITION.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN11FA075](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN11FA075), Nov 18, 2010: Hawker-Beechcraft A36 (N314DP), Oklahoma City, OK, substantial damage, 1 fatal. Probable cause: The pilot’s loss of control of the airplane during night instrument meteorological conditions, likely due to spatial disorientation.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
