## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AIRCRAFT EXPERIENCED INFLIGHT BREAKUP WHILE SUPPORTING MILITARY TRAINING MANUEVERS. RIGHT WING SEPARATED FROM AIRCRAFT AND WAS FOUND APPROXIMATELY ONE QUARTER MILE FROM IMPACT SITE.AIRCRAFT HAD BEEN RECALLED TO RETURN TO BASE DUE TO DECLINING WEATHER CONDITIONS AT THE TIME. LAST AIRCRAFT REPORT WAS 4 MILES FROM BASE, ACCIDENT SITE WAS APPROXIMATELY 3 MILES FROM BASE. NTSB LABORATORY METALURGY REPORT STATES THAT ALL FRACTURES WERE CONSISTENT WITH OVERSTRESS SEPARATIONS WITH NO EVIDENCE OF PREEXISTING CRACKING. THE OVERSTRESS FRACTURES WERE CONSISTENT WITH DEFORMATION AND FRACTURING IN THE CAPS OF THE MAIN SPAR INDICATED SIGNIFICANT UPWARD BENDING IN THE WING.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA11GA066](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA11GA066), Nov 18, 2010: Cessna M337B (N1309), Avon Park, FL, substantial damage, 3 fatal. Probable cause: The pilot's inadvertent encounter with an unexpected intense rain shower with severe turbulence at night.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
