## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE FLIGHT ORIGINATED FROM CALEXICO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (CXL), CALEXICO, CA DESTINED FOR TORRANCE, CA (TOA). THE AIRCRAFT EXPERIENCED A TOTAL LOSS OF ENGINE POWER (DUE TO FUEL EXHAUSTION) ON APPROACH TO THE ORANGE COUNTY AIRPORT (SNA), SANTA ANA, CALIFORNIA. DURING THE SUBSEQUENT FORCED LANDING, THE AIRPLANE DESCENDED INTO ESTIMATED 3-FEET-DEEP WATER, NOSED OVER, AND WAS SUBSTANTIALLY DAMAGED. THE PRIVATE PILOT AND TWO PASSENGERS WERE KILLED. DARK NIGHTTIME VISUAL METEOROLOGICAL CONDITIONS PREVAILED AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR11FA054](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR11FA054), Nov 22, 2010: Beech 19A (N6064N), Newport Beach, CA, substantial damage, 3 fatal. Probable cause: The pilot's inadequate fuel planning, which resulted in a total loss of engine power due to fuel exhaustion.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
