## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON THIRD TOUCH DOWN DURING AN INSTRUCTIONAL FLIGHT THE AIRCRAFT VEERED SHARPLY TO THE LEFT. THE STUDENT APPEARED TO CORRECT, BUT THE AIRCRAFT VEERED TO THE LEFT A SECOND TIME. THE INSTRUCTOR TOOK CONTROL AND STRAIGHTENED THE AIRCRAFT, WHICH WAS NOW TRACKING PARALLEL TO BUT OFF THE RUNWAY. THE AIRCRAFT HIT THE INBOARD PAPI. THE AIRCRAFT AND THE PAPI WERE BOTH DAMAGED. THERE WERE NO INJURIES.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA11LA084](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA11LA084), Dec 11, 2010: Aeronca 7CCM (N2053E), Rochester, NH, substantial damage. Probable cause: The out-of-rig condition of the tailwheel lock, which resulted in a loss of directional control on landing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
