## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PILOT HAD DEPARTED ELMA, WA FOR A FLIGHT OUT TO THE COAST AND WAS PLANNING ON RETURNING TO ELMA, WA WHERE THE AIRCRAFT IS BASED. THE PILOT STATED THAT DURING CRUISE FLIGHT THE ENGINE BEGAN TO RUN ROUGH. PILOT ADDED FULL POWER AND ENGINE ROUGHNESS CLEARED UP. WHEN HE REDUCED TO CRUISE POWER, ENGINE WOULD START RUNNING ROUGH AGAIN AND THIS RECURRED ON SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO CLEAR THE ENGINE. THE PILOT STATED THAT HE THOUGHT MAYBE HE WAS GETTING CARB ICE, SO HE ELECTED TO DO AN EMERGENCY LANDING ON THE BEACH AT TOKELAND, WA.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
