## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON JANUARY 26, 2011 AT APPROXIMATELY 1700 HRS, THE PILOT OF A PIPER 28-180 MADE A NORMAL APPROACH, AND LANDED ON RUNWAY 03 AT MONROEVILLE, AL (KMVC). UPON LANDING, THE PILOT AND PASSENGER HEARD A LOUD POPPING SOUND. THE AIRCRAFT IMMEDIATELY VEERED TO THE LEFT OF THE RUNWAY CENTERLINE TOWARDS A PILE OF WOOD. THE PILOT SAW THE PILE AND PULLED BACK ON THE YOKE TO JUMP THE WOOD PILE. THE AIRCRAFT'S LEFT WING STRUCK THE PILE AND BECAME AIRBORNE. THEN THE RIGHT WING STRUCK THE GROUND, SPINNING THE AIRCRAFT CLOCK-WISE AND SHEERED THE NOSE GEAR OFF.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA11CA127](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA11CA127), Jan 26, 2011: Piper PA28 (N9742J), Monroeville, AL, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain directional control during the landing rollout.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
