## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON JANUARY 26, 2010 AT APPROX. 17:00 LOCAL TIME, AN AMATEUR BUILT EXPERIMENTAL AIRCRAFT (MODEL RV-4) WAS ON DEPARTURE ROLL WHEN THE CANOPY FLEW OPEN AND SHATTERED. THE PIC REPORTED, HE IMMEDIATELY SHUT DOWN THE ENGINE, AS THE AIRCRAFT ROLLED OF THE RUNWAY INTO THE ADJACENT FIELD. TAKE OFF WAS SUCCESSFULLY ABORTED. THERE WAS MINOR DAMAGE TO THE COCKPIT WINDSHIELD PLEXIGLAS WINDOW, AND THE LEFT MAIN LANDING GEAR WHEEL PANT. NO INJURIES WERE REPORTED FROM THE PIC OR PASSENGER.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
