## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON SECOND APPROACH TO RUNWAY 31, THE AIRCRAFT WAS ONSPEED, ON CENTER LINE, ON GLIDE PATH WITH GOOD CROSSWIND CORRECTION. UPON TOUCHDOWN, A GO AROUND WAS INITIATED. DURING GO AROUND PROCEDURE THE PILOT NOTED A SIGNIFICANT THUMP COMING FROM THE TAIL SECTION. AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL ADVISED THERE MAY BE DAMAGE TO THE TAIL WHEEL. AFTER COMMUNICATION WITH ATC AND A VISUAL INSPECTION BY ATC, ATC CONFIRMED THE TAIL WHEEL HAD BECOME DISCONTECTED. PILOT LANDED AIRCRAFT SUCCESSFULLLY ON THE AIRCRAFT'S TAIL WHEEL ATTACHMENT SKID WITH NO FURTHER DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
