## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AT 0825 CST, AIRCRAFT IMPACTED TREES, POWER LINES & POWER POLE APPROXIMATELY 1/2 MILE NE OF WEISER AIRPARK. STUDENT PILOT STATES THAT HE WAS ATTEMPTING TO LAND ON RUNWAY 09 AT KEYQ. DURING THE APPROACH, HE NOTICED HE WAS A LITTLE HIGH & A LITTLE FAST, BUT STILL LANDED ABOUT HALF WAY DOWN THE RUNWAY. PILOT STATES THAT HE DIDN'T THINK HE WOULD BE ABLE TO STOP IN TIME BEFORE RUNNING OFF THE END OF THE RUNWAY, SO HE DECIDED TO TRY AND GO AROUND. PILOT SAID HE HEARD THE LH WING HIT THE TREES AT THE END OF THE RUNWAY CAUSING THE AIRCRAFT TO VEER TO THE LEFT TOWARDS THE HOUSES. HAVING LOST CONTROL AT THIS POINT, PILOT STATES THAT HE PULLED BACK ON THE YOKE & PULLED OUT THE THROTTLE TO TRY AND STALL THE AIRPLANE & HOPEFULLY LAND IN THE DITCH, RATHER THAN CRASH INTO THE HOUSES. AIRCRAFT DID IMPACT THE TREES, POWER POLE & POWER LINES AND THEN CAME TO REST NOSE DOWN HANGING FROM THE POWER LINES IN THE BACKYARD AT 14019 MONTAIGNE IN CYPRESS, TX. PILOT PROCEEDED TO EXIT AIRCRAFT PRIOR TO AIRCRAFT BEING DESTROYED BY FIRE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN11CA163](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN11CA163), Jan 29, 2011: Mooney M20R (N64FM), Cypress, TX, substantial damage. Probable cause: The student pilot’s delayed decision to execute a go-around.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
