## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT WAS MAKING A LOW APPROACH WITH FULL FLAPS OVER A FROZEN LAKE IN ORDER TO ASSESS THE POSSIBILITIES OF LANDING ON TRAILS PACKED BY SNOWMOBILES. PRIOR TO REACHING THE AREA OF PACKED SNOW, THE AIRCRAFT'S MAIN TIRES CONTACTED SOFT SNOW AND THE AIRCRAFT BEGAN TO PITCH OVER. THE PROPELLER STRUCK THE SURFACE OF THE ICE AND SHATTERED. THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO REST ON ITS NOSE, WITH DAMAGE LIMITED TO THE PROPELLER AND SPINNER.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
