## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AS REPORTED BY PILOT AFTER ENGINE SHUT DOWN AT VIEQUES AIRPORT (VQS) ONE PASSENGER REPORTED THAT TERE WAS SMOKE COMING FROM THE FRONT OF THE AIRCRAFT.IT WAS NOTICED A SMALL FLAME AT BOTTOM OF ENGINE COWLING THAT WAS EXTINGUSHED BY LOCAL AIRPORT FIRE DEPARTMENT PERSONNEL.INITIAL INVESTIGATION BY MAINTENANCE PERSONNEL REVEALED THAT ENGINE SUFFERED INTERNAL TURBINE DAMAGE, CAUSING THAT PARTICLES COMING FROM ENGINE TURBINE BLADES TO IGNITE ENGINE COWLING BAFFLE. ENGINE HOT SECTION INSPECTIONS REVEALED ENGINE TURBINE DAMAGE. NTSB WAS NOTIFIED, THEY WILL NOT ASSIGN NUMBER. REPORT WILL BE UPDATED IF ANY NEW INFORMATION IS RECEIVE.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
