## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON 2/24/2011 AT ABOUT 18:45 CST, KING AIR N190RL LANDED ON RUNWAY 3 AT CHARLES B. WHEELER DOWNTOWN AIRPORT (MKC), KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI, FOLLOWING AN ILS APPROACH TO RUNWAY 3. DURING ROLLOUT AND WHILE CROSSING THE INTERSECTION OF RUNWAY 01/19, THE AIRCRAFT HIT A SMALL RIDGE OF SNOW, FOLLOWED BY A LARGE RIDGE OF SNOW, AT APPROXIMATELY 25 MILES PER HOUR. THE PILOT ESTIMATED THE LARGER RIDGE OF SNOW TO BE APPROXIMATELY 2.5 TO 3 FEET TALL. THE RIGHT PROPELLER HIT THE LARGE SNOW RIDGE CAUSING DAMAGE TO ALL THREE BLADES. JUST AFTER THE AIRCRAFT CLEARED THE RUNWAY, THE SNOW REMOVAL EQUIPMENT RECEIVED CLEARANCE TO CONTINUE SNOW REMOVAL ON RUNWAY 3. THE AIRCRAFT HAD BEEN CLEARED TO LAND, AND THE PILOT REPORTED THAT MKC ATCT HAD NOT MENTIONED THE RIDGE OF SNOW ON THE RUNWAY WHEN HE LANDED. SNOW REMOVAL EQUIPMENT HAD BEEN IN THE PROCESS OF CLEARING RUNWAY 01/19 AND WAS HOLDING FOR THE KING AIR TO LAND BEFORE WORKING FURTHER ON RUNWAY 3. IN THE DARKNESS, THERE WAS NO OPPORTUNITY FOR THE PILOT TO SEE THE SNOW RIDGE IN TIME TO AVOID ROLLING THROUGH IT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
