## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PILOT FLEW THE RNAV 30 INSTRUMENT APPROACH TO THE IOWA CITY AIRPORT. HE BROKE OUT 100 FT ABOVE MINIMUMS AND HAD GOOD VISIBILITY. HE CONTINUED THE DESCENT TO RUNWAY 30 AND INDICATED THAT HE WAS CONFIDENT HE WAS LINED UP IN THE CENTER OF THE RUNWAY. WHEN HE WAS IN THE LANDING FLARE, HE DISCOVERED THAT HE WAS SLIGHTLY OFF TO THE LEFT SIDE OF THE RUNWAY. HE DID NOT ATTEMPT TO GO AROUND AND CONTINUED TO LAND THE AIRCRAFT ALONG SIDE THE RUNWAY. AS THE AIRCRAFT DECELERATED, THE FRONT NOSE GEAR BECAME MIRED IN THE MUD AND SUBSEQUENTLY COLLAPSED. AFTER THE NOSE OF THE AIRCRAFT CONTACTED THE GROUND, IT SPUN THE AIRCRAFT 90 DEGREES SO IT FACED THE RUNWAY. NO INJURIES WERE SUSTAINED BY THE SOLE OCCUPANT AND NO OTHER INCIDENTS WERE CAUSED BY THIS OCCURRENCE.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
