## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

WHILE IN CRUISE FLIGHT, THE ENGINE LOST POWER. THE PROPELLER EVENTUALLY STOPPED AND AN OFF AIRPORT LANDING WAS PERFORMED. THE AIRCRAFT CONTACTED A TELEPHONE WITH THE RIGHT WING PRIOR TO STOPPING IN A DITCH ALONG AFTER CROSSING A OIL AND CHAT ROAD. THE RIGHT WING, NOSE GEAR, RIGHT MAIN GEAR AND PROPELLER WERE DAMAGED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN11FA227](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN11FA227), Mar 11, 2011: Lancair LC41-550FG (N521RT), Carbondale, IL, substantial damage. Probable cause: The fatigue fracture and subsequent failure of the No. 2 cylinder exhaust valve during cruise flight, which resulted in a total loss of engine power.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
