## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

MR. BAKER LANDED SEVERAL TIMES ON THE NENANA RIVER, ON HIS RETURN TRIP TO FAIRBANKS HE DISCOVERED HE NEEDED TO RELIEVE HIMSELF AND WOULD NOT MAKE IT TO FAIRBANKS. MR. BAKER CHOSE A SPOT ON THE FROZEN NENANA RIVER LOOKING SIMILAR TO THE PREVIOUS LANDING SPOTS ALREADY COMPLETED, WHEN THE WHEELS TOUCHED THE SNOW, THE TIRES BROKE THROUGH THE CRUST LAYER CAUSING THE AIRCRAFT TO FLIP ON ITS BACK.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ANC11CA017](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ANC11CA017), Mar 17, 2011: Champion 7GCBC (N5160X), Nenana, AK, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's selection of an unsuitable off-airport landing site, which resulted in a nose over.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
