## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AFTER ATTEMPTING TO START THE AIRCRAFT, WITH NO SUCCESS (LOW BATTERY),THE PILOT GOT OUT OF THE AIRCRAFT TO HAND TURN THE PROPELLER TO GET MORE OIL/LUBRICANT TO THE CYLINDERS, RINGS, VALVE STEMS, ETC. AT ABOUT ONE TO ONE AND ONE HALF REVOLUTIONS THE ENGINE STARTED. THE AIRCRAFT, WITH PASSENGER STILL INSIDE, PROCEEDED ACROSS RAMP, TAXIWAY BRAVO, RUNWAY 29L AND FLIPPED OVER IN A GRASS AREA BETWEEN RUNWAYS 29L AND 29R. PILOT MADE UNSUCCESSFUL ATTEMPT TO GET TO THE OPEN LEFT DOOR OF THE AIRCRAFT DURING THIS SEQUENCE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR11CA174](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR11CA174), Mar 20, 2011: Cessna 182C (N9040T), Stockton, CA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to secure the airplane before pulling the propeller to start the engine.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
